IMD II - Robot Sherriff and the Design Process

Here’s a common scenario we find as designers. You have to develop a concept for a client, but you’re creative batteries are running low. Looking at other artists work is a great way to get ideas, but how do you make it your own? Where’s the line between “stealing” an idea and using someone else’s art to inspire something new?
Today we’re going to look at finding inspiration in a few graphics and combining their “ideas” to make something new.
For Today:
Explore one of your ires concepts by collecting a minimum of 30 resource images. Save them to a folder in your login.
Choose 2-3 of the images and make a series of sketches that combines the two ideas.

IMD I - About Me Slide Show
We have a long lab today (1.5 periods). We will spend lab working on a PowerPoint presentation that you will be sharing with the class early next week.
I'll start with a short demo on a few power point features and then you'll have time to work.
Here's the assignment:
Create a minimum of 5 slides
Include information about:
Hobbies and interests
Sports you like to watch or play
Favorite types of music
Your family
Your home school
Why did you join IMD?
Not into sports? Not a big music fan? Feel free to create your own categories.
Add images from online sources to make your presentation interesting.
I'd like for students to use all the time available on the presentation (about two lab periods) Try adding animation and sound if you finish your assignment early.
Make sure you save your work to the server. Save every 5 minutes!
